11 - Going green…

When purchasing cleaning products, ensure they’re labeled “non-toxic” or the ingredients listed on the bottle are all plant-based.

10 - Stretch yourself…
Stretching should really be a part of our daily lives, and if we’re honest, it’s not something that’s going to take ages and the benefits are just so worth it! While you’re stretching, you’re allowing oxygenated blood to get to every part of your body, and it removes toxins along the way, Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi are great activities to rid your body of toxins, plus you’ll feel and look great too!

9 - Brush it off…
Skin brushing is a fairly straight-forward technique that only takes a few minutes every day and will leave you feeling amazing! By dry brushing your skin, you increase blood flow and circulation which in turn rids your body of toxins. It helps reduce cellulite and it leaves your skin softer, more toned and hydrated.

You’ve no doubt heard the benefits of smoothies, and as long as they’re not crammed with sugar laden yoghurts, you can make them tasty and nutritious plus you can cram them with the right fruits and veg so they’re full of antioxidants. Use things like spinach, kale, lettuce, beetroot, carrots, apples and bananas and you’ll feel full, healthy and it will be highly beneficial in the detoxification process.

7 - Get more zzzz’s…
I realize this isn’t the easiest thing to just go out and do, and a full night sleep for many seems like a luxury. But do your utmost to get it, as without proper sleep, we tend to hold on to weight, our immune system is compromised, natural energy is lacking and we get sick a lot quicker. There are lots of things you can do to help aid better sleep. No technology an hour before sleeping, no caffeine late in the day, try to sleep and wake roughly the same time daily and exercising regularly but not just before bed.

6 - Don’t sweat it…
There’s huge debate about this one. Many sites who want to help you with a detox suggest sweating it out in a sauna so that toxins are removed from your body via sweat. As we mentioned earlier, some interesting things have been known to be eliminated via sweating. However, many health practitioners argue that toxins are eliminated by your liver, intestines or kidneys. So, I’ll let you decide what you want to do – but spending some relaxing time in a sauna regardless, still sounds like a fabulous idea!

5 - Drink Up…
A lot of the concoctions that you’re advised to drink when you’re detoxing truly do taste horrible, but not this one! A glass of cranberry juice mixed with orange juice is said to be filled with antioxidants. Drink a glass of this a day, as it will work wonders in helping the liver break down fat and works as a diuretic and draw out the toxins needed to be excreted.

4 - Hard to swallow…
When it comes to those horrible drinks that I mentioned earlier, well this is just one of them. But you might still consider drinking it, because it will kick start your metabolism and clear any mucus or toxins from your organs. It’s a mixture of water, lemon, cayenne and apple cider vinegar. There are many other amazing health benefits of apple cider vinegar, just remember everything in moderation.


3 - Back to nature…
If you’re trying to detox, then steer away from taking medication prescribed by doctors and try and use natural, home remedies first. Often the medicines that are meant to be helping, bring added toxins in to your body.

2 - Eat dirt…
An interesting thing to try is bentonite clay, which you can either ingest or use as a foot bath. The clay is said to have a negative electrical charge which attracts the positively charged toxins. So as the clay makes its way through your system, so do the toxins. The added bonus is that the bentonite clay adds more minerals in to your system.
